Virtualization Assessments
Going Green? Virtualization is one of those projects where Information Technology gets to change its perception in the organization by cutting costs. Virtualization has been an IT green technology for nearly half a century.
Virtualization
The essence of virtualization is to have one computer acting like several separate computers. Each of these virtual computers shares a portion of the physical computer's processing time, heard drive space, RAM, and so on. These virtual computers can even be given their own virtual hardware and individual operating system. Here at NextStep Technology, we use both VMware and Microsoft's Hyper-V for our virtualization.
Server Consolidation
Consolidation involves reducing quantities: server consolidation can reduce the number of physical locations where servers are installed, the actual number of servers, the quantity of software licenses, or the number of points of management. With fewer physical servers, computer repair and maintenance costs will decrease.
Disaster Recovery
Our virtualization solution can provide you real-time backup and automatic failover capabilities, high availability, and centralized backup. If you prefer, we can provide you with instant recovery on demand and digital vaulting, by replicating your environment in our top tier data facility. This solution provides you with continual access to mission-critical applications and data with automatic and seamless failover capabilities. This option allows you and your staff to focus on business resumption activities without the headache of maintaining hardware, software, or staffing. Many of our clients find that this option is less expensive than traditional hot-site recovery methods because it eliminates the need for capital investment in hardware and software.
